Privacy Policy
Effective September 29, 2026
- Your body scans (photos, LiDAR depth, 3D models), measurements and weight stay on your iPhone. We never receive them.
- We collect only anonymous usage: when the app is opened and for how long, with a random ID that isn't linked to you. You can turn it off.
- No accounts, no advertising, no tracking, and we don't sell or share personal information.
- Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your name, email or payment details.
Who we are
My Progress Buddy ("the app", "we", "us") is an iPhone app published by Tayeb Sahebzada. This policy explains what information the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have. Questions: myprogressbuddy@gmail.com.
Information that stays on your iPhone
The app creates and stores the following only on your device, in the app's private storage. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else:
- Photos and LiDAR depth data captured during a scan, and the camera position data recorded with them.
- The 3D models built from your scans, and any checks run on them.
- Measurements you take and landmarks you mark (such as the belly button).
- Scan names, folders, conditions and the body weight you log with a scan.
- Your settings, such as the weight unit and how often you want to scan.
We have no access to this information. If you delete a scan, or delete the app, it is removed from your iPhone. If you back up your iPhone with iCloud Backup or to a computer, Apple's backup includes this data the same way it includes other app data; that is governed by your backup settings and Apple's Privacy Policy.
Camera and LiDAR
The app asks for camera access to capture scans. It uses the camera and LiDAR sensor only while you are on the scan screen, and what it captures stays on your iPhone as described above. You can change camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
Scanning other people
If you scan someone else, you are responsible for getting their permission. Their scan is stored only on your iPhone.
Anonymous usage information we collect
To understand how many people use the app and for how long, the app sends a small anonymous record to our server when it is opened and when it is closed. Each record contains only:

We use this only to count daily and monthly users and typical time in the app. It is not linked to your identity, not combined with other data, and not used for advertising or tracking. It never includes scans, photos, measurements, weight or anything you type.
The records are stored with our hosting provider, Supabase, on servers in the United States. As with any internet request, the provider's systems see your device's IP address to deliver the request; we don't store it with the usage records. We keep usage records for up to 24 months and then delete them.
Your choice: turn this off at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage. Because the records aren't linked to you, we can't find or delete an individual person's past records, but no new records are sent once it's off.
Subscriptions and purchases
Premium is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and manages the subscription under the Apple Media Services Terms and Apple's Privacy Policy. The app checks your subscription status with Apple on your iPhone; we do not receive your name, email, Apple ID or payment details. Apple gives us aggregated, non-identifying sales and subscription reports.
Siri and Shortcuts
If you ask Siri or run a Shortcut such as "How has my weight changed", the app answers using the data stored on your iPhone. Voice requests to Siri are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy terms; we don't receive them.
What we don't do
- We don't require or create accounts.
- We don't show ads or use advertising identifiers.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't sell or "share" personal information, as those terms are used in US state privacy laws.
- We don't include third-party analytics, advertising or social media code in the app.
Health information
Body scans, measurements and weight are personal and may be considered health-related information. That's why the app keeps them on your iPhone and doesn't send them to us. The app does not read from or write to Apple Health.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The anonymous usage records described above don't identify anyone.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to its processing. Because we don't hold personal information about you, and your scans stay on your device where you control them, most requests can be handled by you directly: delete scans in the app, delete the app, or turn off anonymous usage. For anything else, contact myprogressbuddy@gmail.com. Our legal basis for the anonymous usage records, where one is required, is our legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used, balanced by the fact that they aren't linked to you and can be turned off.
Security
Scans are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS data protection while your iPhone is locked. Usage records are sent over encrypted HTTPS and stored with access limited to us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, we'll update this page and its effective date. If a change is significant (for example, if we ever start collecting new kinds of data), we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
